...Well. I did it. My first client was a friend. How did it go you ask? Well, do you remember the very first time you drove a car? Or, if you don't drive, do you recall your first day at 'big' school. I remember both. I remember both very well in fact. The first time I drove, it felt as though the car was too big for the road. I remember visualizing consistent clashing of the tyre and the curb as I nervously made my way down the noisy street. I remember being able to smell the fear of trial and error on my side whilst the stench of Brut aftershave (from the driving instructor with no patience) wafted over every other mile or so. That was my experience. Was yours as good as that one?
Okay, so I may be exaggerating with the comparison of my first driving lesson to my first experience with my NLP client. The results of my driving was by far more successful!
The funny thing is, every technique works best when eyes are closed and, I choice a client (friend first), that struggles to close her eyes. There was my first form of feedback. I've taken it and altered it. I vow to do this with every form of feedback until complete success is gained - and it will be. As Vincent van Gogh quoted, What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything? The thing is, I won't be 'attempting', I will be succeeding.

What have I learned?
If we could sell our experiences for what they cost us, we'd all be millionaires. Abigail Van Buren
Wow! I'm amazed by two things right now; one is the disappearance of my rack sack and secondly, my new found awareness of the regimental routine many people have fallen into. My perception of the latter is that I am glad that I have broken free of the hustle and bustle of just existing.
Talking about existing, I, of course, am doing so. I'm loving it. Guess what? My baggage has disintegrated. It's gone. The world looks better, smells better and feels amazing - or at least, my experience of it does without this baggage. Well, maybe that's not specifically true. My baggage, or at least my memory of it, has been given a clean sheet, a new lease of life. Let me give you an example. Okay, previous to attending the NLP training, my thoughts were clouded by previous negative visions, feelings and various heated arguments. Bet you've experienced something similar. This distorted my (then) present state. So what does that mean? Well, it means that those negative vivid images of my ex lingered, those conversations with disloyal people remained and those feelings of discontentment allowed me to judge and perceive the world through the eyes of what now feels like a different persona. Those negative emotions have evaporated.
Let me ask you a question. How many thousands of people 'invest' in counseling sessions each day? No offense to counsellors (or to my teacher/counsellor friend! : )) or the the others who possess great expansive skills to ease the emotional pain of others however, why spend hours on end digging up the past and having your shoulder soaked by a stranger, who now has an empty grave of troubles on your lap, when those feelings can banish within an hour? That is the beauty of Tine Line Therapy (TM). I'll tell you more about that later.
My Goal/Aim
Previous to the NLP course, my aim was (and still very much is) to set up my own business. That is what I will do and the experience I have had through the intensive week has accelerated my enthusiasm even more. Why? Well, I feel like a new person through Time Line Therapy (TM). As Tad James says, 'change the memories and change the person'.
Right, so the regimental routine? (laughing), I was always aware that 'people make the most of their resources'. I am just amazed at how much people rely on them to see themselves as real. Let's take 'intelligence'. Have you ever known someone who validates themselves on their 'intelligence'? You know, those people who see themselves as being for superior to others, despite having spent little or no time digging deeper into themselves or outside that box. Instead, they experience temporary satisfaction (which soon eases) because they have gained, what is perceived to be, a mark of 'intelligence'. Which, don't get me wrong, is great. With are this energy embedded into this perception of themselves, what time do they have to reach out and collect those extra beautiful resources that is deep within themselves or, in others areas of their lives that they have not been told to look into and therefore, don't?
You see, they make me wonder. What does pretty much every love to have? Money, yep. Yet, those 'intelligent' people choose not to intelligently utilize their 'intelligence' and sit in a pool of pride without exploring what's outside the box. Einstein's brain was exceptionally large. As Tad James correctly noted, was it large because he was extremely 'intelligent' or, did his brain grow due to him utilizing his thoughts differently and consequently, enlarging his brain? I'm pretty sure he didn't waste energy comparing his thoughts for reasons of pride, he just got on with it. He collected those extra resources. He looked outside the box and he didn't just sit back and say, 'hey, I'm intelligent because I gained a grade which is deemed to be great'. How about using that 'intelligence and gain that lump sum of money that you want or achieve those treasured goals that you want?
My Point?
Okay, my point is to allow your mind to be open. It is to allow those preconditioned thoughts to stretch and expand. This what I've done. It feels good, it looks good and I like what I can hear. It's called freedom. Like it? Join me on my next blog. although, saying that, if I'm craving freedom (like many of us are), that's because I'm fleeing from the opposite which I have perviously experienced. How about you? What are you fleeing from?
I'll leave you with that thought...

That Post Course Feeling
Nelson Mandela
Hi ,
Well, it's been three months since my last blog (I could call it a confession).
Here I am, sat perched on the edge of my sofa with a glass of wine. I guess that the question is: Do I really need the wine? My mind feels free, my heart lighter and, my creativity feels expansive. Yep, I've done it! I have gained my NLP Practitioner certificate (courtesy of Helford 2000/Indigo Eagle). The feeling is immense. Can you imagine jumping out of a plane (with a parachute, of course) and free falling with confusion? If you have literally achieved this, I bet a glass of wine is not all you had or needed before hand...
After the descent and eventual plummet to the ground, I was then taken (yes, metaphorically) for a rocky ride. This ride lasted for 30 minutes. These were my emotions. I cried for the last 30 minutes of my car drive home (from Surrey to Oldham). I also proceeded to turn the volume control on my radio 180 degrees clockwise and experienced a magical moment where, symbolically (or so it felt), a garage remix of Queen’s I want it all played. I wanted that – I wanted it all and I still do, even more than before. That's the success, not the song...
However, four hours before this tidal wave of conflicting emotions and, with the great regret of not being one of those I-keep-a-box-of-tissues-in-the-back-of-my-car sort of person, I was practising and preparing all NLP based techniques. To actually be swished, integrated and anchored is something else, I tell you.
So, that's where I've been. In all honesty, my mind feels like a balloon filled with helium and dust right now so I'm going to let you know more later. My intentions will be met partially when I visit a friend tomorrow to place her in a similar state to what I'm in right now...I'm excited to have my first client.

The thinking process...
Okay, so I have set myself a goal; one to be achieved within a realistic time limit. I aim to succeed.
I have been thinking about this goal setting business. It is amazing. How you heard about it? Well, it's on a parallel with the 'law of attraction' idea.
The Law of Attraction is where, if you believe in something enough, tenaciously, it will happen. Sound like a fairy tale? Okay, think back. Think back to when you wanted something SO much that you could smell, hear and see it happening. You could even taste it. It could have been when you were a young child and you set your mind on a favourite toy. No matter how much you asked, you were told that you weren't getting. Do you remember this gutting feeling; where the world felt like it was closing in on your fragile six year old mind, feeling like Chicken Licking, as the world closed down on you like a black cloud in the Pacific?...That was how much it meant to you. Then, the out of this world feeling hit - a year on, your favourite Uncle Willy appears at your front door, after a lengthy 5 year absence, with that bit of joy which you wished for SO much. Suddenly, your world becomes brighter, the sunshine warmer and you know that little spoilt brat, Jessica, next door, is going to be really peeved because she didn't have the patience to set goals - unlike you...with this, a congratulations in in order. Was it luck? Was it 'fate'? Or, was it just a coincidence? Mmmm...interested in testing the theory?
Okay, the theory is within you. Set a goal. A smaller one first. Maybe you aim to buy an item (within a reasonable budget) to obtain something that you have always wanted. Write down what you want. Not in note form though. What I want you to do is the following:
Right, where am I up to? Okay, I'm also setting goals. I have one that is due to happen tonight in fact. The last one happened but was a week late. However, it was worth the wait..you would not believe me it I told you!
I will leave the above with you.

- Choose a specific date for your purchase.
- Embed actual feelings into your goal - how do you feel when you obtain this item?
- What time is it when you receive it?
- Where are you when you receive it?
- How does this item feel?
- Visualise you gaining this item.
- When will you receive it and where?
- Finally - set a realistic time scale.
Right, where am I up to? Okay, I'm also setting goals. I have one that is due to happen tonight in fact. The last one happened but was a week late. However, it was worth the wait..you would not believe me it I told you!

The start..the revelation

Firstly, let me say 'hi'. Secondly, if you are alive, this thought will interest you...
Okay, that's a little broad. If you want to break free from the mundane aspects of living in that box (aka, life; bills, 9-5 work, only living for the weekend etc.), are interested in starting your own business but feel constrained within a compromising situation, read on. This journey may be for you.
Okay, that's a little broad. If you want to break free from the mundane aspects of living in that box (aka, life; bills, 9-5 work, only living for the weekend etc.), are interested in starting your own business but feel constrained within a compromising situation, read on. This journey may be for you.
Most of us dream of walking away or fleeing our jobs and living life how we truly want to. Why wouldn't we? Our life is ours, it's precious. Most of us want to follow dreams, ideas and create life changing plans to create our own 'destiny' in life. I guess what prevents us is job security, feeling stable in our comfort zone and fear of having that complete autonomy. As William Ross Wallace once quoted, Every [person] dies - not every [person] really lives. Have you noticed many of us rebel slightly at the weekend and make plans of our own? Feels nice, doesn't it?
This weekend, I threw myself into a room full of 50 people in a hotel in Manchester. Why, you may ask? Well, it got my heart pumping a little and gave me a slight slap around the face to awaken me; from the last time I fell asleep. The last time I was truly awake and received an intrinsic boost to my well being was when I entered another hotel room - this time, around 15 people were present.
What is it with hotels and me? Well, I tend to find coaching companies, NLP practitioners and other events which turbos my brain into over drive. If you thought you were thirsty for knowledge now and are unaware of the ideas behind NLP and coaching, think again. Your life will never be the same.
My 'lifebox' is filled with some mundane 'items'. I have a job, a boss, a house to maintain, clutter to clear (a hell of a lot of it) and I have the large ruck sack that sometimes appears on my back, as though it were magic. This ruck sack can appear at any time of the day...and it weighs a blooming ton...
Anyway, before I declare what's in my ruck sack or, at least, what this large weighty baggage is, I would like to know one thing about you; what's in your 'life box'? Do you also have a job, a boss and a cluttered house? Oh, you do? Okay, what else does your box contain? Whether the answer is yes or no to the second question, believe me, your life box will contain 'items' which you are told you should have. There are millions of people who will not venture outside the box. Are you one of them?
Let me explain in plain English. For me, the 'lifebox' is what I may not find particularly interesting or fun however I, like most of us, am almost bound by the safety of this box. It provides some cohesion to my thoughts, my mind and my way of life. Think about it. What if you were to climb out of your glorious golden box and onto a path on which you have to create your own external box of joy, full of magical items that only you were to choose? Not your parents, not your partner and not your boss, just you. Can you picture it? How would you feel? What would you do? Where would you go?
This blog is for me to share the above ideas with you. My aim? Well, my aim is to record my journey. By record, I mean via word. Technical equipment is like the devil in disguise waving leisurely at me whilst riding a unicycle; an extremely tricky and ridiculous image.
This journey will consist of progress to achieve my goal as a NLP Master Practitioner and set up my own business by June 2012. What does this have to do with a 'lifebox'? Well, with the continuing perception of single mums, FE/HE teachers (with little money and no job security), my box is pretty much like a second heart. To achieve my goal of owning my own business, whilst continuing part-time teaching, I will place my second heart on a metaphorical heart monitor and my determination to succeed will allow me to live with the heart I was born with - the creative one.
So, what about you? If you could do what you want, be who you want and have what you want, wouldn't you go for it? Of course you would. After all, Happiness is not something ready made, it comes from our own actions ~ Dalai Lama
Oh, that ruck sack? As you may have guessed, that's all the baggage, conditioning and disloyalty I have experienced. I aim to get rid of that.
Anyway, are you interested in joining me on my journey? You're very welcome to accompany me and I welcome any conversing along the way...bye for now.
